How to Better Manage Your Time As a New Mom

When you are a new mom, just getting enough sleep can be hard to do, not to mention trying to better manage your time. After those first few blissful days alone at home with your newborn, it is time to start thinking about how to set priorities and find time for everything. Here are some tips to help get your stared.

Learn How to Multi-Task

With a new baby in the home, you are going to become a master multi-tasker. When you are folding laundry, your baby can be doing tummy time, or you can take advantage of having family over visiting the baby by taking that time to meal prep for the following weeks' dinners so you aren't worrying about cooking as much during the week.  Another good idea for multi-tasking is to unload the dishwasher shortly before dinner. Instead of putting the dishes away, then having to take them out for dinner, you can just unload them right to the dinner table. It helps you set the table while unloading the dishwasher at the same time. Even a few moments saved makes a big difference.

Make Compromises With Your Spouse

It is important that you get a break as much as your spouse or partner when there is a new baby in the house. Try to come up with a reasonable compromise that works best for both of you. If you are home with the baby while your spouse works during the week, you can get up with the baby during weekdays, but then your spouse promises to get up at night with the baby during the weekend. This allows you to have some time off, but also helps your spouse get enough sleep on nights when they work. If you both work with the new baby, then alternate every other night.

Enlist in Washing Services

There is nothing wrong with asking for help or hiring professionals to help you with certain tasks. Sometimes, no matter how good you manage your time, there simply aren't enough hours in the day to do everything. One thing that tends to pile up and is hard to keep up with is laundry. Consider hiring a wash and fold laundry service that can provide this service on a regular basis so you don't have to. There are mobile services that come to your home, pick up your laundry, then return it when they're done with the washing and folding.
