Preserving Architectural Beauty with Integrity

Choosing a carpet cleaning machine for your home

If you have a lot of carpets in your house, combined with children and pets, you know how hard it can be to clean them. Simply vacuuming and scrubbing by hand might prove inefficient over time, leaving visible dirt that seems impossible to remove. A solution for you might then be to buy a professional carpet cleaning machine. There are many different types of carpet cleaning machines, all of them with different qualities. If you're thinking about buying a carpet cleaner, there are a few things you might want to know about the different types.

Absorbent pad

Machines using rotating absorbent pads need you to do some work beforehand. The carpet must be vacuumed to remove surface dirt, and then a cleaning solution needs to be applied to it. The machine works by rotating a pad over the carpet, which means it picks up the cleaning solution and dirt by absorbing it in the pad. This is a simple and rather easy way to clean, as the machine isn't very complicated. However, if you have a lot of carpets with long fibres, this might not be the best solution for you, as the pad can't reach down very far in the fibres and can therefore leave dirt in the bottom of the carpet. If you have short fibre carpets, this might be a good machine for you to consider.

Dry cleaning

To dry clean your carpet, you need to spread a certain chemical powder over it, which works as a cleaning agent. You then use a brushing machine to spread the powder over the carpet. The powder is then vacuumed up along with all the dirt. This method is fairly easy to perform, and it also comes with the advantage of not having to dry your carpets afterwards, which is good for areas where ventilation is hard for drying purposes. It might, however, not be the right solution for you if you clean your carpets very often, as the powder might stick to the fibres in the carpet and make it look dirty.

Hot water extraction

One of the most common types of carpet cleaning machines is the hot water extraction machine. It works by pushing hot water and a cleaning solution into the carpet and then sucking it out along with the dirt. This provides a thorough cleaning of your carpet as it cleans all the way down in the bottom of the fibres. It also sanitizes the carpet by using hot water. However, a problem with it is that many models of hot water extraction machines are complicated and heavy to use. If you don't want to take the time to learn how to operate one, or if you're physically unable to, you might want to consider hiring professionals to perform the hot water extraction for you.
